Simeon Birnbaum, an Oregon-bound senior at Rapid City Stevens High in South Dakota, achieved a meet record and elevated to the No. 4 outdoor competitor in U.S. prep history with his 3:57.53 performance in the Big River Running Boys Mile at the HOKA Festival of Miles at St. Louis University High. Birnbaum also joined Jackson Heidesch of Dowling Catholic in Iowa, Rocky Hansen from Christ School in North Carolina and Tinoda Matsatsa of St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland as the only quartet to all run sub-4 in the race in U.S. prep history, doubling the mark of two athletes from last year's event. Birnbaum improved his own state record from 3:59.51 at last year's Brooks PR Invitational in Washington. More videos |
